Thames Ditton High Street is bustling once more - Covid-19 hasn’t gone away, but our shops, eateries, pubs  and businesses are open again with social distancing measures in place so locals and visitors can shop and enjoy the High Street safely.

Thames Ditton High Street’s anti single-use plastic shopping bag initiative – Thames Ditton Boomerang Bags  - is also flourishing as our local sewing bees involved with the project have been busier than ever making shopping bags out of donated fabric to give free to our local independent shops – to give out free to customers instead of plastic bags.

Retailers and businesses in TD High Street now stocking TD Boomerang Bags include: Thames Food & Wine, Organic Nest, CycleLink, Lime Tree, Nice Buns, View Gallery & Gifts, the Secret Garden and 30 Antiques. The Ironing Board by Levesons at 33 High Street is  also a stockist as well as being the donation point for people to give their unwanted materials, so they can be repurposed into Thames Ditton Boomerang Bags.

Thames Ditton High Street was the first High Steet in the UK to promote the Boomerang Bag anti single-use plastic initiative and It is estimated that every reusable Boomerang Bag will be used around 700 times throughout its lifetime. So far, the Thames Ditton sewing bees involved in the project  have  collectively made over 3,500 Boomerang Bags potentially eliminating 2 million, four hundred and fifty thousand single-use plastic bags!!
